JAMES DEBRESSER
I obtained by CA designation in 1995 and my CBV designation in 1998. I became a CPA when the various accounting bodies in Ontario unified in 2014. I have been practicing exclusively as a forensic and litigation accountant for over 30 years. I honed my skills in these areas of practice at a boutique firm for over 22 years, until I founded my own firm in 2019. During these years, I have dealt with the full gamut of financial disputes. I have been qualified as an expert witness on many occasions.

Away from the office, I enjoy downhill and cross-country skiing, boating in the Bay of Quinte, and bikepacking on Ontario’s abandoned rail trails. I also enjoy outdoor cooking and tinkering with small engines. In recent years, I traded in my sailboat for a bass fishing boat. I am an RV enthusiast and a huge fan of outdoor music festivals. My favourite is the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival in the spring (although, I have a very long bucket list of festivals I want to attend).
IAN WINTRIP
I am the tallest person at DeBresser Wintrip. In my second year at Wilfrid Laurier University, my roommate’s mother sent me an article about forensic accounting. It was a burgeoning profession, full of opportunity. I got hooked on the idea and quickly left my NBA dreams behind. I have practiced forensic accounting for over 25 years, specializing in the quantification of losses in commercial disputes and performing business valuations and financial due diligence across many industries. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Walking the streets and parks of Toronto, I find myself drawn to the dog population. Dogs of all shapes and sizes, I can’t look away. That led me to a position as a volunteer member of the THS Board of Directors. I continue as a volunteer scrutineer for the THS annual general meeting. I am also a volunteer Board Member/Treasurer at Family Services Toronto. My favourite things to do involve watching sports of nearly any kind, the Leafs and Jays especially, and most importantly, biking with my wife Danielle on the Toronto Islands. If you can’t find us in the city, we are likely taking a break on a beach somewhere.

Enjoying a breath of fresh air in the outdoors is something that I love in all seasons and forms. I look forward to camping trips during the summer months, ski trips during the winter, and hiking the great outdoors with friends and family year-round. You can often find me exploring the streets of Toronto with my dog Charlotte while looking for the best chai lattes. If I am not out and about, I enjoy unwinding over a good novel or perfecting a new baking recipe.
KAITLYN MALCOLM
I am a recent graduate from Wilfrid Laurier University with a Bachelor of Business Administration, with a concentration in finance. My academic journey included several courses in accounting and finance, which helped to develop a strong foundation for my role at the firm. I am actively expanding my skills and am continuing to translate theoretical knowledge into practical contributions.

As a cooking enthusiast, I enjoy crafting a variety of dishes savoring the mix of flavours. I also enjoy reading any good book, finding it a nice way to wind down from a day of adventures. In warmer weather, I take care of a garden full of colorful plants and vegetables. During winter, I appreciate the Canadian weather, enjoying activities like skating and skiing in snowy landscapes. I love being outdoors in all seasons of the year, exploring and appreciating nature whenever I can.
