JAMES DEBRESSER
As the firm’s resident expert in financial disputes that relate to matrimonial litigation, I specialize in disputes that relate to property division and income determination. I honed my skills in this area of practice at a boutique firm in Toronto for over 22 years, until I founded my own firm in 2019. Over the years, I’ve also dealt with my fair share of other financial disputes along the way. I support my colleagues at the firm who specialize in these other areas of practice with my knowledge and experience.

I find sailboat racing and downhill skiing to be highly cathartic. Equally therapeutic, and easier on my knees, are bass fishing on the Bay of Quinte, double-dates with my wife and our companions, Maurice and Jenna, at off-leash dog parks, and RV road trips in my fifth wheel to music festivals. My favourite places outside of the office (in no particular order) are 1) the start line at the Heineken Regatta 2) a winding run down any green slope outside of Ontario 3) happy hour with my neighbours in Prince Edward County 4) any one of Toronto’s off-leash dog parks and 5) the Gospel tent at the New Orleans Jazz Festival on Sunday morning.

Enjoying a breath of fresh air in the outdoors is something that I love in every season. I look forward to camping trips during the summer months, ski trips during the winter, and most importantly hiking the great outdoors with friends and family year-round. You can often find me exploring the streets of Toronto with my dog Charlotte while looking for the best chai lattes. If I am not out and about, I enjoy unwinding over a good novel or perfecting a new baking recipe.

KAITLYN MALCOLM
In 2023 I graduated from Wilfrid Laurier University with a Bachelor of Business Administration, with a concentration in finance. My academic journey included several courses in accounting and finance, which helped to develop a strong foundation for my role at the firm. I am actively expanding my skills while continuing to translate theoretical knowledge into practical contributions.

As a cooking enthusiast, I enjoy crafting a variety of dishes savoring the mix of flavours. I also enjoy reading any good book, finding it a nice way to wind down from a day of adventures. In warmer weather, I take care of a garden full of colorful plants and vegetables. During the winter, I appreciate the Canadian weather, enjoying activities like skating and skiing. I love being outdoors in all seasons of the year, exploring and becoming one with nature whenever I can.
